INSPIRATION
This weekend was great with my finance – I am actually so proud of him he participates in a 160km MTB cycling event. This was his first big race! He started serious cycling about 4 months ago. I really do not know how he handled 160km in a short time.
He is my inspiration, because he let me realize that nothing is impossible to train for your first big event in a short period.
It is very important to have someone which will be your inspiration during a big goal you want to achieve. Life today is really hard, and sometimes we find it difficult to stick with a plan and be mentally prepared for a big race. Lucky I have someone, not just inspiration but also motivation!
Yes! There is a lot times I just want to give up or I think about excuses why I cannot proceed in what I started. Regardt tells me exactly what I do not want to hear; “Hou op verskonings uit dink. Jy sê nog altyd vir my jy gaan jou half marathon doen, maar jy het nog nie?”
I find it difficult to run in the winter on the roads- I have an 8-5 job and by the time I get home its dark and these days it is unsafe to jog alone, especially at night. ‘Ek is maar ‘n banggat!’ but, I did find a solution! 3 times a week I attend the gym and do a 35-45min treadmill session and on Saturdays I will have long run for about 60min.
Next time we will be looking more into my training program..
